Strong result for Nykjaer at Britcar 24hrs

Michel Nykjaer has provisionally finished second at the Britcar 24 Hour race at Silverstone, driving a Porsche 997 for JetAlliance.

The race was dominated early on by Wessex Vehicle’s Aquila CR1, which had claimed pole position courtesy of a quick lap from regular Chevrolet WTCC driver Rob Huff.

The car built up a strong lead early on, but was also one of the first to retire from the special endurance event.

The JetAlliance team with their five driver line-up led for the majority of the event through torrential weather conditions at the Northamptonshire circuit, but a late pitstop dropped them to second place behind the GT2 Ferrari F430 of MJC Ltd.

The team wins the GT3 class regardless, though the team have posted a protest over being held behind the red light whilst leaving the pit on their last stop, and claim without this hinderance, which driver/owner Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer says was unnecessary, they would have won the race and are hopeful of a revised result.
