Japanese championship reveals tracks for 2012

Japanese Touring Car Championship organizers, Concorde Management, have officially confirmed the plans for a resurrection of the championship in 2012. The announcement was made in Tokyo together with FIA World Touring Car Championship representatives Marcello Lotti and Jonathan Ashman.

The Japanese championship is going to be resurrected after being closed down in 1998.

“There is currently a sense of stagnation in Japanese motorsport. The re-launch of JTCC is a marking of a new philosophy for the future,” said JTCC representative Mizuno.

The series is going to co-operate with the China Touring Car Championship and use the new S2000 regulations with the 1.6 liter turbo engine.

Four of the six planned races have been confirmed for 2012:

Fuji Speedway
SUGO
Okayama
Autopolis
Macau

No manufacturers have so far confirmed their participation in the series.
