Menu leads Japan warm-up

Alain Menu was fastest in the warm-up session for Chevrolet, though his time was nearly two seconds down on Andy Priaulx’s pole time.

Tiago Monteiro and Tom Coronel, who will start 11th and 16th respectively for SR-Sport, were second and third fastest in the warm-up.

Championship leader Yvan set the fourth best time for Chevrolet. The Frenchman can wrap-up the title early if he can outscore Andy Priaulx by over 25 points over both of today’s races.

Norbert Michelisz was the top rookie in fifth in the Zengo-Dension SEAT Leon TDI, whilst Team AVIVA-COFCO’s Colin Turkington was sixth fastest and the best of the BMWs.

The top independent was Darryl O’Young in ninth for bamboo-engineering, nine-tenths of a second down on Menu.

Robert Dahlgren did not take part in the session, as the team discovered a problem on the Volvo C30 and have been forced to change the engine. As a result, Dahlgren drops ten places on the grid and will now start 24th.
