Appeal against BMW to be heard this Friday

The appeal against the decision to allow the BMW Team RBM team to run with sequential gearboxes at Japan will be heard this Friday.

The FIA has set the appeal hearing for 10am on Friday 12th November, at which the UK sporting authority, the MSA will present the appeal on behalf of Chevrolet.

Chevrolet are protesting that BMW Team RBM running a sequential shift gearbox at Japan was not in the spirit of the regulations, and the allowances for previous entrants in BMWs to run without penalty aren’t comparable.

The WTCC specified in their decision that no protests had been filed since the allowance for Andrei Romanov to run at a separately calculated weight since Brands Hatch had been made, and therefore granted a request from BMW Team RBM to run the sequential box at a reduced weight at Okayama.
