FIA changes penalty weights for BMW again

The FIA has changed the penalty weights again for the FIA World Touring Car Championship finale at Macau. The previous decision to have maximum weight for the facelifted BMW’s has been changed to only apply to the cars of Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus.

At first all of the facelifted BMW’s were going to have their weights calculated on the three races ahead of Japan, where Priaulx and Farfus where excluded.

This has been changed so that only Priaulx and Farfus have their weights calculated in the way described above. The other, privately entered, facelifted BMW’s have got their weights calculated on the three previous races ahead of Macau.

This means 40 kilos less for leading independent driver, Sergio Hernández who is fighting against Darryl O’Young (Chevrolet), Kristian Poulsen (older BMW) and Franz Engstler (facelifted BMW) for the Yokohama Independent’s Trophy.

New weights for Macau

+ 40 kg Chevrolet Cruze LT, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, SEAT León TDI
± 0 kg BMW 320si (except cars n.10 and 11, +40 kg)
– 10 kg BMW 320si (old model)
– 20 kg Chevrolet Lacetti
