López and Ponce de León join Fiat

Scuderia Fiat has signed two TC2000 champions in José María López and Gabriel Ponce de León for 2011 as the team announce their full line-up.

José María López has joined the team after four seasons racing for the Equipo Petrobras Honda Racing team, with which he won two titles.

In 2010, López had a less impressive season by his standards, finishing sixth in the drivers’ standings and third of the five works Honda drivers.

Three-time TC2000 champion Gabriel Ponce de León ends an 11 year association with Ford by joining the Italian Fiat marque next year. de León was overshadowed by his new Ford team-mate Norberto Fontana this year, with the ex-Formula 1 driver taking the title in his first year with the team.

Scuderia Fiat have also confirmed that Emiliano Spataro, who took two wins on his way to finishing in fourth place in the standings will remain with the team, being the only driver of the teams’ 2010 five driver line-up who does.

Emiliano López will be the newest addition to the team, moving up from the TC Pista championship. Emiliano is also the younger brother of team-mate José María.
