Andy Priaulx drives Mini WRC

Andy Priaulx tested the new Mini WRC, set for its debut in the 2011 World Rally Championship.
“I had a bit of fun. It was great as Kris Meeke was there so he was able to show me the ropes, and then was brave enough to sit beside me while I drove the car,” said Priaulx.

The car is being built by Prodrive and based on the Mini Countryman production model.
“It really is a lovely little car, and I am sure the programme will be successful. This was an amazing opportunity and I can’t thank David Richards enough for giving me such a great chance,” said Priaulx.

But a career switch from tarmac to gravel is not something the multiple touring car champion is interested in.

“However, before anyone starts getting excited about me swapping from racing to rallying, I need to point out it is a one off and I can’t visualise myself taking on the rally boys at this stage in my career!” said Priaulx.

The Mini WRC is powered by the same 1.6 liter four cylinder turbo engine the 2011 BMW 320 TC that Priaulx tested in Spain last week is equipped with.
