Video: Six years with SEAT for Tom Coronel
Tom Coronel announced yesterday that he is switching back to driving a BMW in the FIA World Touring Car Championship after being behind the wheel of a SEAT for the last six years.
The Dutchman completed 130 WTCC races with SEAT, claiming two independent titles, 2006 and 2009.
During the past six years Coronel has had a close relationship with SEAT Netherlands and managing director Bram Leijten is pleased with their work together.
“On behalf of SEAT Netherlands, all employees and the SEAT dealer network in our country, I sincerely would like to thank Tom Coronel for the co-operation in the past years. With his commitment and his achievements, Tom has significantly contributed to the awareness and the sporting image of our brand in The Netherlands,” said Leijten.
Coronel drove a SEAT Léon TDi in the WTCC 2010, finishing eight in the championship. Next year Coronel is going to drive a BMW 320TC for ROAL Motorsport.
“In all these years, he has given us many exciting moments when we followed him during the races, both at the track and in front of the television screens. We wish Tom all the very best for his future career,” said Leijten.
