Farfus and Schubert Motorsport win Dubai 24hrs

Schubert Motorsport has won the Dubai 24 Hour race with Augusto Farfus, Claudia Hürtgen, Edward Sandström & Tommy Milner in a BMW Z4.

The BMW crossed the line after 594 laps to claim victory. Former BMW Team RBM driver Augusto Farfus was a late addition to the team replacing Patrick Söderlund.

“Everyone in the team gave everything – and we were rewarded with the win today,” said Farfus.

“This race is completely different to the Nürburgring 24 Hours, which I also won with Team BMW Motorsport in 2010. However, I must say: Dubai is very special. The atmosphere is fantastic and the drivers all support one another. I really, really enjoyed myself.”

The AF Corse Ferrari finished second, with the Black Falcon #7 Mercedes-Benz SLS finishing in third place.

BTCC star Steven Kane, along with Alex Kapadia, Humaid Masaood and Sam Hancock finished 15th overall and first in the SP3 class in an HMR run Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Completing 406 laps and finishing in 56th place overall was the WRC with Barwell run Honda Integra Type-R driven by James Kaye, James Nash, Mike Brown, Jason O’Keefe and former BTCC regular Mark Lemmer. The car lost more than four hours due to an engine change.

Just one place behind them completing 401 laps was the Engstler Motorsport run BMW Z4 driven by WTCC drivers Franz Engstler & Kristian Poulsen, as well as ADAC Procar regular Florian Spengler and Dominik Kraihamer.
