Tom Coronel pleased with first BMW test

Tom Coronel has done his first test with ROAL Motorsport, driving the BMW 320si at the Italian track Adria.
“The mission of the day was to get used to the rear wheel drive and to get acquainted with the engineers of ROAL Motorsport. Both goals have largely been met,” said Coronel.

The Dutchman was not at the wheel of the BMW 320TC with the new 1.6 turbo engine as it is still being prepared by BMW in Munich. Instead Coronel was driving a 2009 specification BMW 320si with the normally aspirated engine.

Coronel has not driven a BMW since 2004, but the Dutchman reports that he is getting along well with the rear wheel driven car.

“Getting used to rear wheel drive went without any major problems. I drove a Spyker and Porsche last year, both of which are rear wheel driven, alongside my WTCC program,” said Coronel.

Next up for Coronel is a shakedown of the new car in Germany in February, followed by a test in Italy a week later.

“I am really very pleased with the test today and it was nice to get one team with the team and the car. I look forward to the next test,” said Coronel.
