Proteam confirms three BMWs for 2011

There are many rumours surrounding Proteam’s line-up for the 2011 FIA World Touring Car Championship. TouringCarTimes met up with team owner Valmiro Presenzini who could reveal that the team is going to feature three cars on the grid for 2011.

The Italian dismissed the rumours about Félix Porteiro going back to his team.

“Félix is a great driver and a good person, but for this year we will not work together,” said Presenzini to TouringCarTimes.

On the other hand, Presenzini revealed that former European Touring Car Cup class champion Fabio Fabiani will be at the wheel of a BMW 320si, equipped with the old N/A 2.0 engine.

“Fabiani will be with us for at least the first few races. He will drive a 320si E90, while we will have two more cars equipped with the latest 2011 specifications,” said Presenzini.

As for the names of the remaining two drivers, Presenzini said he couldn’t reveal their names yet.

“I can’t announce the name of the two other drivers who will work with us. I can only say that we will almost certainly have a driver who has already had experience in the WTCC and a very good rookie who comes from single seater racing,” said Presenzini.

The official announcement is excpected in the next few days.
