Augusto Farfus tests new turbo BMW in Italy

Augusto Farfus was present during a two day BMW-test in Italy alongside privateer teams ROAL Motorsport and Liqui Moly Team Engstler. The Brazilian completed 143 laps without technical problems, testing out the new 1.6 turbo engine.

ROAL Motorsport-driver Tom Coronel completed his second day of testing today and was pleased with the test.

“The biggest difference is the engine characteristics with the turbo. But we had two perfect days of testing,” said Coronel.

Also present during the two test days were Engstler-drivers Kristian Poulsen, Franz Engstler and Marchy Lee.

The BMW 320TC, as shown in the picture above, has got some minor differences in the aerodynamics compared to the naturally aspirated BMW 320si. The hood vent is bigger and is located in the center and the air intake in the front splitter has been increased in size as well.

The BMW’s are now going to be shipped to Brazil for the opening round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship 2011 on the 20th of March.
