Renault top Buenos Aires test
Guillermo Ortelli topped the timesheets with the new Fluence for the Renault Lo-Jack team at Buenos Aires, ahead of his team-mate.
The former Chevrolet driver’s best lap of 1:21.0 put him a fraction up on team-mate Mauro Giollombardo, as both drivers show they’re familiarising themselves quickly with both the new car and team.
“The Fluence continued to respond as it did in last Friday’s test,” said Ortelli.
“We continue with the development of this new model of Renault, which as we saw was very competitive. During the day we further tested new aerodynamic changes that went very well. When we use a set of new tyres the Fluence’s reaction was very good.”
The Renaults were both ahead of the two Chevrolets of Agustín Canapino & Christian Ledesma, who will start the season with last year’s Vectra before upgrading to a TC2000 specification Cruze later in the season.
Renault & Chevrolet were joined by independent teams Vitelli Competicion, Lanús Motorsports, Riva Racing and JM Motorsports at the Buenos Aires test.
