WTCC confirms manufacturer entries

The WTCC has confirmed that all four marques represented in the championship this season will be eligible for the 2011 manufacturers’ title.

Although only Chevrolet and Volvo receive official support this year, BMW and SEAT’s privateer teams will also be eligible for manufacturer points running under the banner of BMW Customer Racing Teams and SR Customer Racing respectively.

Last year, the independent collective of SEAT cars run as SEAT Customers Technology finished second in the manufacturers table behind Chevrolet and ahead of BMW Motorsport.

All SEATs this season are being run by SUNRED Engineering, whilst the BMWs are run by a number of independent teams, including Engstler Motorsport, ROAL Motorsport, Wiechers-Sport, Proteam Racing and Zengo Motorsport.

The ‘Volvo Polestar Evaluation Team’ title is indicative of their underdog status this year, with just a single car entry from the start of the season for 2010 STCC runner-up Robert Dahlgren.
