Michel Nykjær ready for second WTCC season

Michel Nykjær starts his second FIA World Touring Car Championship season at Curitiba this weekend and the Dane is ready.
“I am very excited to see how we stand compared to the other drivers. A lot of things are new this year and I am aware that it is going to be tough,” said Nykjær.

The Dane has arrived at the circuit in Brazil and reports that the surface of the track has changed compared to last year.

“We are going to drive on the track for the first time on Friday, but I walked around it two days ago and it looks the same. There is new asphalt, so we are all going to have to get used to a different level of grip,” said Nykjær.

Nykjær finished 11th in the overall championship last year and second in the rookie challenge as he was not eligible to take part in the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy because of his diesel powered SEAT León.

This however has changed for 2011 and the Dane is going to fight for the independents’ title as well as the new Jay-Ten Trophy for drivers not competing with the new 1.6 turbo engine.
