Barth sent to the back of the grid

Fredy Barth has lost his front-row grid spot for race two tomorrow after being excluded from the qualifying results for missing the weigh bridge.

The Swiss driver also had not secured his steering wheel in parc ferme, as well as cutting the chicane on his fastest lap and so was not surprised to receive his penalty, he told AUTOSPORT.

As a result of the new qualifying rules for 2011, this means Barth will start from last position in both races, as both grids are now determined as a result of the times in both of the qualifying segments.

The 31-year-old Swiss had qualified in ninth for race one, which would have rewarded him with a front row start for race two.

Barth’s demotion will mean the top ten grid reversal will now extend to the new tenth place driver classified in Q1, which will be the Chevrolet of Alain Menu.
