Huff leads Free Practice 1 in Belgium

Rob Huff was fastest ahead of team-mate Yvan Muller for Chevrolet in the first free practice session at Zolder, Belgium.

The current championship leader’s best lap of 1:38.531 was just over two-tenths of a second faster than his French team-mate, but still a bit behind Gabriele Tarquini’s pole record from last year.

Several of the BMW cars had limited running in the session, most notably Fabio Fabiani’s normally aspirated BMW 320si which started ten minutes into the session.

Kristian Poulsen only set one flying lap in his Liqui Moly Team Engstler BMW 320 TC, which put him 17th in the final timings.

Michel Nykjaer was again the top independent and Jay-Ten runner, and this time the fastest SEAT. The Dane’s best lap of 1:39.321 was good enough for third, just two-tenths ahead of his team-mate Gabriele Tarquini.

The top BMW was Tom Coronel in eighth.
