Muller leads Chevrolet 1-2-3 in final practice

Yvan Muller was fastest in the final practice before qualifying leading his two Chevrolet team-mates, with the SEAT of Michel Nykjaer in fourth.

Yvan Muller’s time wasn’t faster than Rob Huff’s from the earlier session however, with all the cars back into the 1:39’s.

There was a slight off for Alain Menu in the Chevrolet at the first corner, whilst Fabio Fabiani also managed to spin his Proteam Racing BMW 320si at the same corner, but with no stoppage of the session required as he was able to rejoin.

Tom Coronel was suffering with a steering problem, and joined the session late whilst the team worked on it, but could only manage 11th, 1.1 seconds down on the leading Chevrolet.

Darryl O’Young made it a Chevrolet 1-2-3-4 for part of the session, with the Hong Kong driver dropped to fifth near the end of the session after a fast lap from Michel Nykjaer. The Dane had also gone third fastest in the morning session despite only completing a handful of laps.

Nykjaer therefore ended up the top independent and Jay-Ten contender, with the fastest BMW that of Franz Engstler in seventh place.

Volvo Polestar Racing’s Robert Dahlgren also impressed in the normally aspirated Volvo C30 in ninth place, less than a second adrift of Muller.

Qualifing takes place at 14:00 CET.
