Chevrolet Argentina reveal new Cruze

The Chevrolet TC2000 team have revealed the new Cruze that will race this weekend at San Martín, Mendoza for drivers Agustín Canapino and Christian Ledesma.

The Argentinean squad will introduce the second new car in the 3M Argentinean TC2000 championship this season after rival Lo-Jack Renault Team introduced the Renault Fluence at the start of the season

The team continued to race with the Vectra for the first two rounds of the season, but will move on to Chevrolet’s current C-segment car, the Cruze, which currently races in the World, British and Scandinavian Touring Car Championships in Super 2000 specification.

The TC2000 Cruze is a lower cost model compared to its European touring car counterpart, but with more aggressive styling as is common place in the series.

Agustín Canapino gave the Vectra quite a send off at the last race at Santa Fe, destroying the car in practice and under doctor’s orders had to sit out the following round of the Turismo Carretera series which he was due to take part in.

Canapino is currently in 11th place in the drivers standings, Ledesma 15th, and Equipo Chevrolet sixth place in the manufacturers standings going into the third round of the championship this weekend.

“I have great pride with the opportunity to present the Chevrolet Cruze,” said Chevrolet Team Manager Gustavo Lema.

“After the beating in Santa Fe, we had several meetings with GM and worked through many steps to complete the vehicle and to test it. This model has already been WTCC champion and we have great expectations.”
