Spataro on pole for Fiat at San Martín
Emiliano Spataro has secured pole position for the Scuderia Fiat Pro Racing team at San Martín, ahead of Agustín Canapino in the new Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota’s Mariano Werner.
Spataro’s best lap of 1:20.486 saw the 34-year-old grab pole position for his second consecutive race, but will drop 7 places on account of being fifth in the championship during the sprint heats tomorrow.
Agustín Canapino was an impressive second in the first race weekend for the Equipo Oficial Chevrolet team’s brand new Cruze. The 21-year-old was just 0.040s down on Spataro’s Fiat Linea, with Mariano Werner’s TTA Toyota Corolla in third.
Guillermo Ortelli was fourth fastest in the Lo-Jack Renault Fluence, followed by the two Toyotas of Matías Rossi and Bernardo Llaver.
Fabian Yannantuoni was the top qualifying Ford-YPF driver in seventh, with Guido Falaschi’s independent Sportteam Renault Fluence in eighth.
Equipo Petrobras Honda driver Mariano Altuna missed the top eight shootout and qualified in ninth place, ahead of 2008-2009 champion José María López, the second highest place of the Fiats.
