Rob Huff takes third consecutive pole at Monza

Chevrolet’s Rob Huff has maintained a unbeaten run of pole positions in the 2011 World Touring Car Championship and will lead a trio of Chevrolet’s off the grid tomorrow.

Rob Huff gambled in the first qualifying session, leaving it to his last possible run to set a lap time good enough to get him into Q2. As a result, he was able to pace the lap perfectly, setting the ninth quickest to also secure a front-row position for race two alongside SUNRED Engineering driver Tiago Monteiro with the reverse top ten grid.

The Chevrolet drivers all worked together throughout the session, taking it in turns to lend each other a tow, with Huff towing Muller, Muller towing Huff and then Huff towing Menu.

Darryl O’Young also followed the three RML Chevrolets but made a mistake on his second flying lap and abandoned the lap, with his flying lap good enough to put the Hong Kong driver sixth on the grid.

Norbert Michelisz was the top independent in fourth place in the Zengo Dension BMW 320 TC, with Tiago Monteiro the top qualifying SEAT in fifth, after a mistake from Tarquini put the Italian down in tenth place.
