Michelisz 0.030 seconds from first BMW podium

Norbert Michelisz came very close to scoring his first ever BMW podium in a close drag race to the finish with Tiago Monteiro.
“I’m not happy with this result. I had the third position two laps before the end then I made a small mistake through Ascari and Tiago (Monteiro) managed to get just right on my tail and he had a better line exiting of Parabolica,” said Michelisz.

Monteiro managed to get a nose ahead over the line in a classic Monza finish with just three hundredths of a second between the both.

“I was trying to go as fast as possible to the finish line but in the end it was 0.030 seconds. It was a good fight it was fun but obviously I was hoping for a podium finish,” said Michelisz.

While Michelisz was best BMW driver in race one, the second race saw him being the second best BMW driver in seventh position overall.

“It was a very tough race. Unfortunately from lap 6 or 7 the alignment of the steering wheel moved, probably I used the kerbs too aggressively. Top speeds were not good either,” said Michelisz.

Michelisz was in the fight for a podium finish in the second race, but once more got involved in a fight with Monteiro that the Zengő Dension driver lost out on.

“We made it to P3 but then I was pushed from behind a bit; (Tiago) Monteiro apologized for it, he said he was pushed also but it is not helping us out. I guess a third place was in the game today,” said Michelisz.
