Colin Turkington voted best privateer of 2010

Colin Turkington was voted best privateer touring car driver of 2010 by the readers of TouringCarTimes for his efforts in the WTCC. The 2009 BTCC champion received his trophy during the STCC race weekend at Knutstorp where he moved up to second in the drivers championship.

“I am really pleased to receive this award and I want to thank the readers of TouringCarTimes. It is always nice to be noticed for your efforts, especially by true touring car fans,” said Turkington.

Turkington and West Surrey Racing took part in five race weekends of the FIA World Touring Car Championship last year and notched up one victory and three podium finishes.

The Northern Irishman was up against BTCC driver Tom Onslow-Cole and STCC driver Andreas Ebbesson in the vote. Turkington received 68% of the votes, Onslow-Cole 28% and Ebbesson 4%.

Turkington takes part in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship 2011 for BMW team Flash Engineering, with the third race of the season at Mantorp Park coming up this weekend.
