Chevrolet WTCC team voted best team of 2010

In the final award of 2010, TouringCarTimes readers voted Chevrolet’s World Touring Car Championship team as the best team of the 2010 motorsport season.

Chevrolet took their first manufacturers and drivers title in 2010 against strong competition from BMW and SUNRED, but new signing Yvan Muller wrapped up the championship at the penultimate round of the season, the first time the season finale at Macau was not the decided in the championship’s short history.

Eric Nève, Chevrolet Motorsport Manager, was delighted to receive the award recently at the Zolder circuit in Belgium.

“It’s a great revelation to win so many prizes, and it’s a nice reward for all the hard work we’ve done over the years,” said Nève.

RML and Chevrolet won three of the six awards voted for by motorsport fans in 2010, with Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato picking up best driver, hotly contended for in the poll against WTCC counterpart Yvan Muller. The best car, confidently beating the DTM’s HWA Mercedes-Benz squad and Sweden’s Polestar Racing, and now the best team.

Chevrolet WTCC’s closest competitor in the poll was it’s BTCC team Silverline Chevrolet, with the WTCC team taking 45% of the vote against 24% for Silverline Chevrolet.

Polestar Racing for it’s efforts in the Swedish Touring Car Championship season was third with 17% of the vote, with HWA Mercedes in fourth place on 14%.
