Chevrolet still heaviest going to Hungary

There will be no changes to the compensation weights calculated for the next round of the World Touring Car Championship at the Hungaroring, which means the Chevrolet Cruze will again be the heaviest car on the circuit.

After a runaway run of five victories from six starts, the compensation weight penalty, based on the cars fastest lap times across the first three race meetings of the year, sees the Chevrolet Cruze given an additional 40kg on top of their base weight.

The SEAT León TDI and BMW 320 TC were deemed to be on an average 0.7s off the pace and so will run with no compensation weight.

The Volvo C30 of Robert Dahlgren was on average 2.0 seconds down on the Chevrolet, whilst the BMW 320si of Fabio Fabiani (with Ibrahim Okyay’s times included from Monza) was 6.9 down, so both can subtract 20kg from their base weight.

As before, if the Volvo Polestar Racing team or SUNRED Engineering bring their new 1.6 litre turbocharged engines to Hungary, they’ll have to run with an additional 40kg of ballast on their championship debut, which will be recalculated for the following round at Brno, Czech.
