Menu on top in first test at the Hungaroring
Chevrolet’s Alain Menu was fastest in the first test at Hungary, with team-mates Rob Huff and Yvan Muller setting their best times at the last minute to knock Robert Dahlgren down to an impressive fourth.
The Volvo Polestar Racing driver looked set to top the timesheets after going faster than local driver Norbert Michelisz after half of the session, but some last minute flyers from the Chevrolet trio put them up front, with Dahlgren down to fourth just half a second down.
Norbert Michelisz was the top BMW and Yokohama Independents’ Trophy driver in fifth ahead of Proteam’s Javier Villa.
Tiago Monteiro was the fastest of SUNRED Engineering’s drivers in his SEAT León TDI setting the tenth fastest time, 2.2 seconds down on Menu.
Pepe Oriola was the fastest of SUNRED’s drivers in the new SR León 1.6Ts, 14th fastest and 3.7 seconds down on the top Chevrolet, with limited running for the SR León turbo drivers in the session with Michel Nykjaer only able to complete an outlap, and Fredy Barth setting the most laps at just eight.
KK Motorsport driver Marchy Lee didn’t take part in the session.
The next session is Free Practice 1 at 9:00 CET tomorrow.
