Rob Huff perplexed by qualifying error
Rob Huff will start 12th for both of Sunday’s races at the Hungaroring after a qualifying error saw the British driver missed the all-important top ten shootout.
The Cambridge-driver’s best time was a 1:57.8, eight-tenths slower than his best lap of the weekend in the Friday test session.
The championship points leader’s not clear on what happened which caused the miscalculation in qualifying.
“I just didn’t do the lap time, as simple as that,” said Huff to TouringCarTimes.
“The tyre drop off was really quite big, so the first lap I obviously slowed down a bit, the second lap I slowed down a little bit and on the third lap I was pretty much flat out.”
On the challenge of having to drive through the field tomorrow in both races to get a points finish, Rob’s looking forward to it.
“It’ll be the first time I’ve been attacking rather than defending, so it’s quite a change, ‘a new challenge’,” joked Huff.
On whether after the near-miss at Monza he’ll be changing his approach to qualifying, Huff was uncertain.
“We’ve got it right three times out of four for me and three times out of four for Alain and four times out of four for Yvan so, but we just need to the look at the data and see exactly where we went wrong and make sure we don’t do it again in the future.”
