Yvan Muller leads from Robert Dahlgren in FP2

Chevrolet led Free Practice 2 with Yvan Muller in Hungary, but Robert Dahlgren’s Polestar Racing Volvo C30 was the surprise interloper in second, splitting the Chevrolets.

The reigning World Champion’s best time of 1:57.447 was slower than Rob Huff managed in the first session with the track temperature continuing to rise.

The session was halted with 12 minutes to go when the Wiechers-Sport BMW of Urs Sonderegger went straight on into the tyre barriers at Turn 1. The Swiss driver walked away from the car okay, but with some damage to the front-left corner of the car to repair before qualifying.

The session resumed after a delay to repair the tyre barrier, with Muller leading the times from the Volvo of Dahlgren by one-tenth of a second.

Alain Menu was third with Rob Huff fourth. Gabriele Tarquini was fifth fastest in the SEAT León TDI ahead of Spaniard Javier Villa, the top BMW driver.

The SR León continues to improve with each session with Fredy Barth the quickest, 1.7s down on Muller’s time in 11th place.
