Robert Dahlgren leads morning warm-up

Volvo Polestar Racing driver Robert Dahlgren was fastest in the morning warm-up session at the Hungaroring, setting the fastest lap of the weekend.

Dahlgren will start in sixth place for Round 7 and provisionally ninth on the grid for Round 8 later on today in the normally aspirated Volvo C30.

The Swede’s best lap of 1:56.430 was faster than the pole position lap set of 1:56.546 by Chevrolet’s Alain Menu yesterday afternoon, albeit in even hotter conditions.

Rob Huff, who will start both of today’s races from 12th was next up, half a second down.

Local favourite Norbert Michelisz was fastest of the independents and BMW drivers in fourth, with Tiago Monteiro the top SEAT in seventh.

Michel Nykjaer, who had limited running yesterday with a fuel line issue in second practice was tenth fastest in the new SR León 1.6T, and will start as the top 1.6 turbo powered León in 13th position for both races.

Wiechers-Sport driver Urs Sonderegger, who crashed out in Free Practice 2 at Turn 1 causing a red flag sustained minor injuries and has decided not to take part in today’s races.

The first race is scheduled for 12:20 CET.
