Alain Menu gets brand new car for Brno
Alain Menu will have to switch to the team’s back-up car for the next round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, with no time to repair the Swiss driver’s race car after it was damaged in Hungary.
Menu crashed out of the race after contact with Tom Coronel’s BMW in race two, and will switch to the team’s new Chevrolet Cruze test car for next weekend’s round at Brno.
“We are in the busiest part of the season, with very tight turn arounds,” said RML Team Manager Ron Hartvelt.
“This time, we will have some extra work as Alain’s car cannot be repaired in time following the accident in race two in Hungary. For Brno, Alain will drive the fourth car, the new test car we were completing, and all cars will be shaken-down at Sywell on Monday.”
Menu also had to switch to the back-up car last year after the event at Marrakech after an incident with BMW Team RBM driver Augusto Farfus damaged the two-time BTCC champion’s race car.
