Rob Huff leads Chevrolet 1-2-3 at Brno
Rob Huff snatched victory from team-mate Yvan Muller at Brno, with Menu battling through the field to make it the first Chevrolet 1-2-3 since Zolder
At the rolling start, Yvan Muller held his position, but Rob Huff grabbed the inside line down into Turn 2 and took the lead.
From then on, he was unchallenged and Huff and Muller drove off into the distance to win by over ten seconds.
Behind it was a little more busy. Alain Menu battled with Tom Coronel to try and take third, but ended up tangling with Robert Dahlgren, and the two fell to fifth and seventh respectively. The two drivers then set about reclaiming their positions.
On lap three, Menu got past Poulsen for fourth, but Tom Coronel held on for another four laps before the Swiss driver managed to sneak past him down into Turn 1.
The man to watch though was Norbert Michelisz. The Hungarian driver fought his way through the field after being excluded from qualifying and starting from 19th and last on the grid. By lap six, the Zengö Motorsport driver was up to ninth.
Darryl O’Young was leading a growing pack of cars in seventh place, after Dahlgren had got ahead of the Hong Kong driver on lap five, including top SUNRED driver Michel Nykjaer. Slowed by O’Young, Michelisz saw his opportunity and dived past the Dane for eighth on lap eight and fought hard with O’Young, but had to settle where he was.
Javier Villa also managed to pass Nykjaer on the final lap, with the SUNRED driver keeping the final points spot.
Kristian Poulsen in the Liqui-Moly Team Engstler BMW looked at trying to pass Coronel a few times, but ended up fourth, but the top classified independent driver.
The second race takes place at 15:15 CET.
