Dahlgren puts the Volvo in the top ten again

Robert Dahlgren has qualified the Volvo C30 of Polestar Racing in the top ten for the third consecutive meeting, and for the second race of the team’s new 1.6 turbo engine.

The team switched from their normally aspirated five-cylinder 2.0 litre engine to the new regulation turbocharged 1.6 turbo at the Czech Republic, and so far the engine has a 100% success rate of getting into the top ten.

It was close though, as Dahlgren was lying in 15th place before his final run in the first qualifying session.

“On the first try it didn’t work out for me, it was too slow,” said Dahlgren to TouringCarTimes.

“I had one more shot, which is always a little worrying when you have one shot because things could happen on the track. I went as quick as I could as I didn’t want to take any risks and that was enough.”

Dahlgren admits it’ll be tough to catch up to Chevrolet this season, but hopes to be closer at the races where the team doesn’t have play catch-up.

“At the moment, the target is to be the best of the rest and that’s what we’re fighting towards,” said Dahlgren.

“At every track we come to it depends where we start. The team has never been to a street track like this, I have never been to a proper street track either. I’ve been to street tracks, but with a smooth surface, and it’s a different thing.”

“The next race at Donington we will be a lot closer in the beginning, and I think we’ll be to challenge better than we have done so far.”
