Rob Huff fastest in wet free practice at Donington Park

Chevrolet’s Rob Huff was fastest in a wet practice session at Donington Park, ahead of team-mate Yvan Muller, with Tiago Monteiro third fastest with his first ever laps at the circuit.

The session started in very wet conditions with light rain falling throughout. The conditions caught out many drivers, even with BTCC veterans Yvan Muller and Alain Menu having minor slides at the track.

Norbert Michelisz went off twice in the Zengö Motorsport BMW 320 TC, first at the Old Hairpin and then at Redgate in the final minute of the session.

Colin Turkington ended up only 17th fastest after sliding into the gravel trap at Redgate with just under ten minutes left in the session.

Tiago Monteiro was the closest driver to the fastest Chevrolet pairing of Rob Huff and Yvan Muller in the wet conditions. Monteiro had missed all running in the 30 minute test yesterday with an undisclosed mechanical problem, and has never raced at Donington Park in his career.

Robert Dahlgren was quick again in the Polestar Racing Volvo, finishing the session fourth fastest, with Pepe Oriola just behind in the second highest of the SUNREDs, and the fastest Yokohama Independents’ Trophy competitor.
