Poulsen punished for clash with Michelisz
Kristian Poulsen has picked up a five-place grid drop for the next round of the World Touring Car Championship at Oschersleben, after an incident at Donington Park with Yokohama Independents’ Trophy rival Norbert Michelisz.
The Dane was trying to pass Norbert Michelisz’s Zengö Motorsport BMW 320 TC at the final corner on lap seven, but contact saw the orange BMW spun around and the two made head-to-head contact.
The stewards have deemed Poulsen at fault for the incident, and have served the Liqui-Moly Team Engstler driver a five-place grid penalty for the next race at Oschersleben.
After a tough weekend for Michelisz, Poulsen has closed to within two points in the independents trophy, with Darryl O’Young now up to third.
A sensational weekend for Poulsen’s team-mate Franz Engstler, with two Yokohama Independents’ Trophy class wins and an overall podium, catapults the veteran German driver to fourth in the standings.
