Stars line up for Buenos Aires 200km
The 3M Argentinean TC 2000 Championship’s endurance event takes place this weekend, taking place earlier this year, switching from November to August, as well as changing circuit location to the Autódromo Roberto Mouras.
For the event, championship leader Matías Rossi is joined by former TC 2000 regular Martín Basso, a long time driver at the Ford-YPF team in order to help bolster his championship chances. The Toyota driver leads the standings by 40 points over Honda’s Leonel Pernía, who will be joined for this year’s event by Omar Martinez.
Argentinean star Esteban Guerrieri, currently competing in the IndyCar feeder series the Indy Lights, will also be racing for Toyota, pairing up with Mariano Werner in the No.5 TTA Corolla.
The Chevrolet team will again receive support from Chevrolet’s World Touring Car drivers, this time with Rob Huff joining the team. Alain Menu, who has won the event before will pair up with Christian Ledesma, whilst WTCC points leader Huff will race with the Chevrolet TC 2000 team’s newest driver and latest race winner, Agustín Canapino.
Carlos ‘Cacá’ Bueno, the Brazilian Stock Car driver who also raced at the opening round of the WTCC season, scoring a podium in the new Chevrolet Cruze, will also be competing at the Buenos Aires 200km. The Brazilain driver will join the top placed Fiat driver Emiliano Spataro.
Another name from the past taking part is TC 2000 regular and former Formula 1 driver Esteban Tuero. Tuero will be racing with Guido Falaschi in the independent Sportteam Competición Renault Fluence. The Fluence in the hands of Falaschi won last time out at Rio Hondo.
French sports car veteran Nicolas Minassian returns to the event with the Peugeot Cobra Team, where he joins Juan Cruz Álvarez in the Peugeot 307.
38 cars are scheduled to take part in this weekend’s race.
