Werner & Guerrieri secure Buenos Aires pole
Mariano Werner and Esteban Guerrieri have taken pole position for tomorrow’s Buenos Aires 200km, ahead of team-mates Matías Rossi and Martín Basso giving Toyota Team Argentina a 1-2 on the grid.
Werner’s best lap was a 1:27.217, four-tenths of a second faster than his championship leading team-mate which put the Toyota Corolla on pole position.
Closest to the Toyotas was Nestor Girolami and Matías Russo in the Equipo Petrobras Honda Civic, leading off an all Honda second row with Leonel Pernía & Omar Martinez fourth.
Agustín Canapino and Rob Huff qualified in fifth place for Chevrolet, just ahead of Ignacio Char & Camilo Echevarria’s Toyota.
Two-time TC 2000 champion José María López and Diego Aventin were seventh fastest and the top placed Fiat, just ahead of the series most recent new race winner Guido Falaschi, the highest qualifying Renault Fluence sharing with Esteban Tuero.
The fifth row will be led by Christian Ledesma and Alain Menu’s Chevrolet Cruze, with Facundo Ardusso and Ricardo Rissatti starting tenth in the Peugeot Cobra Team 307.
The two works Renault Fluences of the Renault LoJack team just missed the top ten and will start 11th and 12th, with the Fiat Linea of Emiliano Spataro and Cacá Bueno starting 15th and Juan Cruz Álvarez and Nicolas Minassian in 19th for Peugeot.
The race starts at 12:52 local time tomorrow.
