WTCC confirmed for USA and Infineon Raceway in 2012

The FIA World Touring Car Championship will make its debut in the United States of America next year at Infineon Raceway.
“We were keen for a number of reasons to bring the WTCC to our track,” said Steve Page, Infineon Raceway President, to Autosport.

A three-year agreement was made during the previous WTCC race at Valencia between Page and WTCC series promotor Marcello Lotti.

“We are always looking to expand our menu and we thing WTCC provides excellent racing. Northern California has a strong racing fan base, so I think the WTCC will develop a good following. It is also a way to expose our raceway to a worldwide audience,” said Page.

The race in 2012 is planned to be held on the 23rd of September, a date to be confirmed later this month according to Autosport.
