José María López takes pole position at Trelew

Fiat driver José María López has taken his second pole position of the season at the Trelew circuit in Chubut, Argentina for the ninth round of the 2011 TC 2000 Championship.

López outqualified the two Toyota Team Argentina cars of Mariano Werner and Matías Rossi , with the margin just 0.088s to Werner in the qualifying session.

Agustín Canapino was fourth fastest for Chevrolet, with Leonel Pernía the fastest of the Honda Civics in fifth.

The feature race takes place at 13:00 local time on Sunday, with the two qualifying races in the morning. The championship handicap system is applied at this round and so López will not start from the front for either of these on account of his sixth place in the standings.

The first two rows for the first qualifying heat will be occupied by Chevrolet’s Agustín Canapino, Honda’s Nestor Girolami, Renault’s Martin Serrano & Peugeot’s Facundo Ardusso.

The second qualifying race will see Toyota Team Argentina’s Bernardo Llaver start from pole with team-mate Ignacio Char alongside, with Ford-YPF’s Fabian Yannantuoni leading off row two ahead of López.
