Javier Villa joins GP2 test in Jerez

Proteam Racing’s Javier Villa has been invited by his former GP2 squad Super Nova to the test this week alongside Adam Carroll at Jerez.

The Spanish driver, who came close to taking his first WTCC victory last time out at Valencia, has been consistently linked with a return to single seater racing despite his quick adaptation to touring car racing where the 23-year-old is in contention for the independents’ title in his debut season.

“I have been called by Super Nova to take part in the Jerez GP2 tests, a duty that I am very pleased to accept,” said Villa.

“It is more than a year and a half since I last raced in GP2 but the teams continue relying on me, and after the shakedown of the new Dallara I did for Arden last year, which went very well, I’ve now got this new chance to drive a single-seater, something I am looking forward to doing.”
