Hong Kong based touring car team 778 Autosport are planning to enter a Super 2000 Peugeot 308 for the final two rounds of the 2011 FIA World Touring Car Championship at the Tianma Circuit, China as well as Macau.

The team, which compete in the China Touring Car Championship and Asian Touring Car Series with the Kia Forte, have bought the ex-Swedish Touring Car Championship Peugeot 308 which was built and run by IPS Motorsport in the 2008-2009 STCC seasons for Johan Stureson.

The team have requested to run the car for the first time in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, which has been accepted subject to scrutineering which will take place at the circuit ahead of the race weekend in China on November 5th-6th.

The team will also have to demonstrate the car and driver are capable of competing at an acceptable level to the race stewards.

The Peugeot 308 is normally aspirated, and so will be as run in the Jay-Ten trophy along with Fabio Fabiani and Charlie Ng’s BMW 320sis at the event.

The last time a Peugeot was entered in the World Touring Car Championship was with a 407 run by Peugeot Sport Denmark for Jens Edman at Monza & Oschersleben in 2006.
