Michel Nykjær: “Anything can happen in Macau”
Michel Nykjær is 29 points from leading independent driver and fellow Dane Kristian Poulsen ahead of the finale at Macau with 43 points left to fight for.
“Even if you are behind on points, you can still head from Macau as winner,” said Nykjær.
Last year’s Macau finale was Nykjær’s first ever visit to the track and the Dane retired from the first race in the usual first lap chaos.
“Traditionally, there are many accidents, so it is really important to be in the top from the start,” said Nykjaer.
Despite the tough first taste of the track, Nykjær is longing to get back this weekend.
“The track has got everything, although it is not that wide. It has got a really long straight and some corners where you hardly can drive in first gear. It is a great track, it is special and I hope that it suits our car better than Shanghai,” said Nykjær.
Nykjær has got a tough mission ahead of him self this weekend in order to try and claim the Yokohama Independents’ title.
“It is going to be tough, but I will fight for my world championship chance until I see the chequered flag. Anything can happen in Macau,” said Nykjær.
