Dahlgren looking forward to “epic” Macau season finale

Robert Dahlgren is going to hit the streets of Macau for the first time ever in the FIA World Touring Car Championship finale this weekend.
“I have looked forward to this race all season. It is going to be an epic final,” said Dahlgren to TouringCarTimes.

The Swede also completes his and Volvo Polestar Racing’s first ever WTCC season this weekend. Dahlgren and Volvo has faced brand new tracks all season and Macau is no exception, rather the opposite.
“It is hard to know what to expect from this race as the track is so special. We have prepared us as much as we can with simulations, information from experienced drivers and much more. I hope that we get off to a flying start with a strong base setup and that I get in to the track quickly,” said Dahlgren.

Dahlgren has shown strong pace all season with the C30, but the first podium is still waiting to be caught.
“Macau is as said going to be extra difficult. But we have got a strong package and we have been quick on more or less all track this season, despite that we’ve never raced on the majority of them before. The goal in Macau is to reach the podium. I know that it is a high set goal with this type of track. But we’ll take it as it comes, we are as prepared as we can be and I am no doubt ready for the challenge,” said Dahlgren.

Volvo has won the Macau race twice in the past with Gianfranco Brancatell in 1985 and Johnny Cecotto in 1986, both driving a Volvo 240 Turbo Group A. The last time Volvo raced at Macau was in 1999 with Henry Lee Jr, finishing fifth behind the wheel of a Super Touring Volvo S40.
