778 Autosport excluded from Macau race

The Peugeot 308 of 778 Autosport has been excluded from its first attempt to compete in the World Touring Car Championship, after the officials ruled that the car does not conform with its original homologation form for the STCC.

Lo Ka Chun was hoping to take part in his first WTCC event at Shanghai two weeks ago, but had to skip the event due to logistical issues. Lo was also in contention for the China Touring Car Championship with the team’s Kia Forta, but eventually lost to Ford’s Andy Yan, who is competing at Macau this weekend in the CTM Macau Cup.

Lo was 20th fastest in the 30 minute test session, competing with the other normally aspirated leading cars in the Jay-Ten category.

The car went through scrutineering yesterday just before the test, but the officials returned with the discovery that the car didn’t comply with the original documentation that the car was required to run to when it was entered in the Swedish Touring Car Championship by IPS Motorsport.

As a result, the stewards have excluded 778 Autosport from the event, reducing the field to 25 cars this weekend.
