Rob Huff quickest in shortened warm-up at Macau

Championship challenger Rob Huff was fastest in the warm-up session at a sunny Macau, whilst Yvan Muller was unable to set a time with the session stopped one minute early after a two car crash at Faraway Hill.

Alain Menu was the first to set a quick lap ahead of Rob Huff whilst Yvan Muller returned to the pits after the out lap.

On Rob Huff’s second run, the British-driver went quickest of all setting a time of 2:31.081, with Menu just under half a second behind.

Yokohama Independents’ Trophy points leader Kristian Poulsen went off the circuit at Moorish Hill but was able to continue.

With just over a minute to go, Aleksei Dudukalo hit the barrier in his SR León at Faraway Hill, damaging the front right corner of his car and was stranded mid-corner. The Russian was then collected by the oncoming BMW 320si of Philip Ma of Proteam, causing additional damage to the León and ripping the front of Ma’s car, who managed to return his car to the pits.

The session was stopped before Yvan Muller, Michel Nykjaer or Jo Merszei were able to set a timed lap, with Kuok Io Keong’s Corsa Motorsport Lacetti not taking part in the session.

Norbert Michelisz ended up third fastest and the top independent driver, just ahead of Proteam’s Mehdi Bennani with Tiago Monteiro the fastest of the SUNRED León drivers in fifth.

The first race starts at 10:45 local time (3:45 CET).
