Tom Coronel pleased with “best of the rest”

Tom Coronel secured a strong season finish on the streets of Macau with an overall fourth in the championship.
“All season long, we have been saying that we are “best of the rest” and in all honesty, I believe that this was all we could manage. Together with ROAL Motorsport, I am looking back upon a great season,” said Coronel.

The Dutchman secured fourth in the first race and an impressive second in the second race, right between title rivals and Chevrolet drivers Rob Huff and Yvan Muller.
“In the closing stages, Yvan Muller moved up into third place in one of the other Chevrolets and like that, I was stuck behind the fastest driver in the field and the new world champion. It couldn’t have been much better. I am really happy with this second place in the final race,” said Coronel.

Fourth in the championship means best non-Chevrolet driver and Coronel is already looking forward to 2012.
“We were always on the pace, scored a race win in Japan and got a fine overall result. Plenty of reasons to be happy. We knew that this was the most realistic goal. Of course, we are already looking forward to next year, but nothing has been decided. I hope that we will be able to sort out everything before Christmas already and that I can be back again in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, preferably with this team and this car,” said Coronel.

ROAL Motorsport Team Principal Roberto Ravaglia was more than pleased with the overall result of the season, the best ever for the team.
“We are really satisfied for ending the season in fourth position, that is the best result in our team’s history in FIA WTCC. Coronel is the first driver in the final classification being lined up by a private team: this success is due to the commitment of all members of the team that I want to thank. We ended the season with a victory, four podiums and no retirements due to technical problems out of twenty-four races run, these figures confirm that we worked on the right direction,” said Ravaglia.
