Chevrolet gets 30 kilos added in minimum weight
The FIA has revealed the minimum weights for cars in the 2012 FIA World Touring Car Championship. The cars included in the list is the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T, the BMW 320 TC, as well as their naturally aspirated versions, the Volvo C30 and the different versions of the SEAT/SUNRED León.
The Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T has had its minimum weight increased by 30 kilos, from 1150 kilos last year to 1180 kilos for the 2012 season. The maximum total weight for the Chevrolet, with maximum penalty weight, can now be as much as 1220 kilos.
The BMW 320 TC has had its weight reduced by 10 kilos, from 1170 to 1160 kilos. All of the other cars that took part in the 2011 championship, including the 320si, Cruze LT, Lacetti, diesel SEAT León TDI, SUNRED León 1.6T and Volvo C30 will have 1150 kilos as minimum weight.
New models such as the Ford Focus and the SEAT León 1.6 TSi have not had their weights set yet. All cars will start the season on the maximum penalty weight of +40 kilos, before the penalty weight system calculated on average lap times comes in to force after two meetings.
