Lea Wood to return with ex-Eurotech Vectra

Lea Wood will compete in his third season of the British Touring Car Championship, after purchasing the ex-Eurotech Racing Vauxhall Vectra of Andrew Jordan for the 2012 season.

Wood competed in 2010 and 2011 with the older BTC-specification Honda Integra Type-R which was originally built by Team Dynamics for the 2005 and 2006 seasons, but that car has now been outlawed for the 2012 Championship. The car will be run by Wood’s family run team, Team Wood Racing.

“We’ve got a proven race and championship-winning car in the Vauxhall Vectra and 2012 is going to be very exciting, awesome even,” said Wood to btcc.net.

“We’re looking to begin testing in the next three weeks, but we’re just waiting to finalise a few deals. The Vectra will be a completely new challenge for me as a driver and for my team. There’s no doubt it’ll more technical than the BTC-spec Integra but it’ll be quite exciting to work with and to see what we can do – I have a great race engineer (Dave Longhurst) with over 25 years of experience in motor sport who does nothing but race preparation, so I’m sure he can extract a lot from the car.”
