Bamboo voted best independent team of 2011

Independent Chevrolet team Bamboo Engineering were voted by TouringCarTimes readers as the best team in the Yokohama independents’ trophy in the 2011 season, narrowly beating BMW-equipped rivals Liqui Moly Team Engstler.

The Silverstone-based outfit took 23.3% of the against Engstler’s 22.4%, despite the Engstler team securing the independents’ title last season.

ROAL Motorsport were voted third ahead of the Spanish independent team SUNRED, the only independent team to have developed their own engine in the WTCC, with Hungarian team Zengö Motorsport fifth.

“We are delighted in the fact we have won the best independent team award, given the level of competition and number of teams eligible,” said Team Principal Richard Coleman.

“Our drivers had some bad luck especially at the end of the season in 2011, and its nice that the team gets some recognition for the tremendous hard work they put in. Bamboo’s key strengths are in its staff, the approach, professionalism and sheer dedication of every team member. We are really looking forward to this season and have some really exciting announcements in the coming weeks, we already know 2012 will be our best season yet!”
