Barlesi and Wéber punished by the stewards
WTCC rookies Andrea Barlesi and Gábor Wéber were both given suspended penalties by the stewards for incidents at Monza in which both of Proteam’s drivers were taken out of the race.
Belgian driver Andrea Barlesi, driving for SUNRED in a SEAT León TDI clashed with Mehdi Bennani’s BMW 320 TC on lap two at the Parabolica, with both drivers eliminated from the race on the spot.
Gábor Wéber, making his WTCC debut with Zengo Motorsport, made contact with Spanish driver Isaac Tutumlu on the following lap which saw the Proteam driver retire with engine damage, leaking oil through the first Lesmo corner which saw several drivers slip off the track and brought out the safety car.
Both Wéber and Barlesi have been given a ten place grid drop which is suspended for three events, but will be enforced if they repeat the same infraction.
