Gábor Wéber will also miss Marrakech

Zengõ Motorsport driver Gábor Wéber will also miss this weekend’s round of the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Marrakech due to cost concerns for the team.

The Hungarian is competing in his first year in the WTCC, though is presently scheduled to compete in just the European half of the season, whilst team-mate Norbert Michelisz will do the full campaign, though Wéber is trying to arrange further budget to continue his season.

After suffering an engine failure in Monza, which saw him take a grid penalty in Valencia, further technical issues in Spain saw the 40-year-old miss the start of the second race. With BMW Motorsport advising the team that the suspension should be replaced after Marrakech due to the high kerbs, Wéber and Zengõ have decided to step-down the #27 car from this weekend in order to focus on the next three rounds in the Slovak Republic, Hungary and Austria.

There will therefore be just 22 cars competing at the Circuit Moulay El Hassan around the streets of Marrakech this weekend, with a pre-race weekend test session taking place this afternoon.
